Today we ended Scottish Week with an afternoon of Scottish Poetry and song. I have been roving with my video camera again and filmed 19 minutes of sheer talent. I didn’t have time to edit it today (I was busy eating shortbread in the staff room!), but will get onto the case on Monday. We also had two very, very talented boys sing ‘A man’s a man for a’ that’ – I made them sing it 3 times, not because they made a mess the first twice, but they were so good, I wanted to hear it again and again!
So make sure you come back for the next entry on our blog.
Yesterday we enjoyed a scottish afternoon with music and dance. We were visited by members of the Culter BB Pipe Band. Five of the members are ex-pupils of Culter. They were led by Pipe Major and Boys Brigade Captain, Mike Reid. All apart from one member now attend Cults Academy. Thank you to Ms Muirhead, Head Teacher, for giving them the afternoon off to attend our school. The boys and girls also enjoyed ‘Highland Dancing’ and music from our violinists. Here is a condensed video for you to enjoy!
Oor Bobby said it brought a tear to his glass eyes!

Last week we had a Ceilidh. We were taught dances by Mrs Murphy, our P.E. Teacher. Dances included ‘Dashing White Seargent’, Virginia Reel, and Canadian Barn Dance. We had a great afternoon. After our Ceilidh, we enjoyed shortbread and Irn Bru and listenend to a Doric Storyteller.
Today we have another Storyteller in school and tomorrow, Culter Pipe Band will play in the afternoon. We will be wearing tartan in school tomorrow. This is so much fun.
From the 21st January – 25th January we will be holding a Scottish Week. Pupils have been learning Scottish Dancing with our PE Teacher and they will all choose a Scots poem to learn over the week as part of their homework. The Curriculum that week with have a Scottish theme. We will be visited by a Doric Poet, a storyteller and also members of the Culter Pipe Band – mostly former pupils. Also, shortbread and Irn Bru will be consumed in vast quantites. I wonder if there is haggis on the menu?
Come back that week to view the photos and maybe some video footage!!
Slainte!
