ABERDEEN P4 CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2008
CONGRATULATIONS ALSO TO KEITH YARDLEY P4/5I, WHO WON THE ABERDEEN P4 CHAMPIONSHIP CUP ON SATURDAY 26TH APRIL, AT NORTHFIELD ACADEMY.
Keith will receive the cup, with his name engraved on it, which will be retained in our School trophy cabinet for 1 year.
We are very proud of both Keith and Carl and of course our other chess players who have attended chess regularly throughout the year. Chess club is now on holiday until October.
CONGRATULATIONS TO CARL MILTON P6C, OUR SCHOOL CHESS CHAMPION FOR A 3RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR!
Carl played the most games and was undefeated in all. He will be presented with the School Chess Trophy at the end of term assembly.
Runners up were: 2nd - Duncan Craig P6C, 3rd - Rory McGregor P5W and 4th - Zack Griffiths.
For the fourth year running we have a well attended Chess Club. It is so popular we had to turn 20 away as we cannot cope with the numbers! Sean Milton and Mrs Polson coach around 24 children each week. Last year we played friendly matches against Milltimber Primary and Cults Primary and we hope to meet up with them and other schools further afield again this year.
Last year we were invited to the Lord Provost’s Chess Tournament. Here pictured below is one of our pupils accepting a 3rd place trophy from the Lord Provost. A great honour.
