GridClub Home Learning Scheme

June 17, 2008

The GridClub is a learning website for anyone aged 5 to 12.  It has over 500 activities closely linked to the Curriculum and is designed to be highly motivating and rewarding.  The school once made excellent use of GridClub, but we are unable to subscribe at present due to costs involved per pupil.  However, they are offering parents the chance to subscribe at home to help support their children’s school work. If you would like a free trial or subscription go to www.gridclub.com/myschool and fill in the required details.  If you do subscribe, please fill in the school postcode, which is AB14 0RX in the ‘SPECIAL CODE’ box and they will send us 25% of your subscription as part of their fundraising scheme.    GridClub is fun, safe and rewarding so it is worth setting up a free trial to find out more.

We need your help!

June 11, 2008

As the end of term approaches and the P7’s prepare for their move up to Cults, we would like to make a short film to present to them, which they can look back on in years to come.  To help make this film, we need a few ‘props’.  We are in the early planning stages so at the moment we need 2 Sumo Wrestler suits, or fake male chests, a belly dancing costume and a large stuffed cuddly dog.  Not sure if you can guess from this what the theme of our film is, but all will become apparent.  If you have any of these items and you don’t mind lending them for a few days, please e-mail me at b.polson@culter.aberdeen.sch.uk

We will probably need more items as we progress so I will no doubt hassle you all at a later date.

Thanks for your help.

Bingo night update

June 9, 2008

Please accept my apologies as I stated wrong time and venue for the Bingo night.  It should have read

Thursday 12th June @ 7.00 pm in the G.P. Room

Don’t forget to raid your cupboards for groceries or roll up your sleeves and do a bit of baking.  It will be much appreciated by the Fundraising Team and also those attending Bingo.

Wit and Wisdom

May 23, 2008

 Miriam P5W on reading -

“Mrs Forbes, do you still read for pleasure?”

“Yes, of course,” Mrs Forbes replied.

“My mum and dad don’t, they only read for information!”

I think Miriam should get her own column in this blog!

New Class Blog

May 22, 2008

Miss Glass & Primary 3G have set up their blog today.  They will be letting you know what they get up to in class.

Please take a look at all our class blogs and leave a comment.  This lets the pupils know you are keen to read about them and encourages them to keep blogging!

Overheard in the playground

May 15, 2008

Miriam’s (P5W) thoughts on adults.

“Adults are so boring, all they talk about is pensions!”

And, this is a cracker.  Whilst monitoring in the playground today, another P5W pupil  (who shall remain nameless - but you know who you are) came up to me, looked at my head and said “Is that a tad of grey I see there?”

Kids.  Don’t you just love them!

Cycling Proficiency

May 6, 2008

We desperately need volunteers to run the cycling proficiency for Primary 7, this term.  One Primary 7 class has already completed the course, so it is important that the other class get the chance to also participate.  If anyone is interested in finding out more information, please contact Irene Watson on 733197 or pop into school to have a chat with her.

Health Week

April 28, 2008

Today is the start of an action packed Health Week.   All classes have been invited, on a particular day, to breakfast at school with their friends.  Today the P1 children enjoyed a breakfast of fruit smoothies, fresh fruit, cheese, yoghurts, toast, pancakes, cereal and fruit juices.  Yum!  We continue the week with visits from the School Police Liaison Officer, The Dental Health Nursery, Livewire Theatre Company Anti-bullying workshops, Road Safety and Fire Safety talks.

Hopefully we will have lots of photographs to show you, so take a look back later in the week.
