ABERDEENSHIRE PRIMARY SCHOOLS BADMINTON TOURNAMENT – KEMNAY ACADEMY

The above singles tournament was organised for P5, P6 and P7 boys and girls.  I would like to say well done to the following pupils who represented Culter School.

Rachel Summers P7P, Jemma Stein P7P, Kieran Fowler P7P, Jack Yule P7P, Mark Nicholson P7P, Scott Main P7C, Zack Griffiths P7C, Sophie Reid P6C, Toby Veale P6C, Adam McBain P5/6I, Thomas Stein P5/6I and Calum Brown P5L

All the players played brilliantly and they all showed excellent sportsmanship.  Most of the above players won 2 out of 3 matches in their pools.  Well done to Toby and Thomas who got into the quarter-finals.  Congratulations to Jemma who reached the semi-finals.  Jemma received a trophy for her success.

Some of the pupils from Culter School will be taking part in the Aberdeenshire Primary Singles Badminton Tournament at Kemnay Academy on Saturday 15th November.

GIRLS SINGLES & DOUBLES  BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS

SATURDAY 15TH MARCH 2008 AT KEMNAY ACADEMY

About 50 girls entered the tournament.  The following girls represented Culter School.

Rachel Summers, Charlotte Irvine, Amy Rugg, and Jemma Stein (all P6B).

Well done to all girls from culter School for participating.  Rachel, Charlotte and Amy played doubles.  Jemma played singles and doubles.  All four girls said that they really enjoyed the match play experience.

Congratualtions to one of the girls who reached the quarter-finals of the singles and has therefore qualified for the Scottish Primary Schools Tournament at the Bells Sports Centre in Perth in April.

From the blog below you will have noticed that Adam Fisher & Joshua Coutts reached the semi-finals of their doubles match.  As they did so well, the qualified for the Scottish Primary Schools Tournament at Bells Sports Centre in Perth in April.  They will play against pupils from all over Scotland.  Well done to them both and good luck when the time comes!

Saturday 1st March - Banchory Academy & Sports Centre

Over 100 boys entered the above tournament.  Culter School had 22 boys representing our school.  This is a record amount of entries from Culter School since I’ve been coaching.  The Culter boys all seemed to enjoy the tournament and it was nice to see them supporting each other.  It was a long day for the players who were playing doubles and singles, not forgetting the parents who stayed and watched all day.

Well done to all the boys for participating.  Congratulations to Adam Fisher and Joshua Coutts who reached the semi-finals of the doubles.  Congratulations again to Adam who reached the quarter-finals of the singles and to Zack Griffiths who won his singles pool.  all 3 boys each received a trophy for their achievements.

Here is a picture of our two pupils who were selected to represent the Aberdeen City Badminton Team.

Unfortunately the Moray Team didn’t come down due to bad weather.  Well done to the Aberdeenshire Team who won the Inter Area Tournament.  All the players played singles matches and then some fun doubles was organised for them.

MORE BADMINTON NEWS!

Congratulations to two of our pupils who have been selected to represent the Aberdeen City Badminton Team for the Inter-Area Triangular Tournament on Saturday 2nd February 2008 at Portlethen Academy.

The team is made up of 2 boys and 2 girls from P6, P7, S1 & S2.  They will play singles matches against the Aberdeenshire and Moray teams.

This is our school badminton team.  We play regular matches with other schools and sometimes we do really well.  Most of all we have fun.  We have a great coach called Mrs Moore.  She gives up a lot of her time for us.

We are playing a match in Portlethen Academy on Saturday.  We are representing Culter School at the Aberdeenshire Primary School Badminton Quaich.  The winners of the Tournament will represent the North East of Scotland at Grangemouth in February.  Wish us luck!
